MUSIC: FRESH NEW HIP-HOP INFUSED R&B MIXTAPES
No, I didn’t produce these mixtapes, but being an R&B head myself, I like to spread love about artists that get me hyped about music genres again.
The man…THE MAN…behind Tony! Toni! Toné! and Lucy Pearl…Raphael Saadiq, has a new artist he’s endorsing. Oakland’s own Adrian Marcel, whom I believe is now in the ATL, has a free mixtape called “7 Days of Weak”, that’s full of smooth, sexy R&B that also knocks. You can stream and download it here.
Also, a few weeks ago, Cassie (remember “Me & U”?) released a new mixtape, “RockaByeBaby”, with an allstar supporting cast of Whiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, Pusha T, Too Short and more. You can get that here and watch the video for the lead single “Paradise” with Khalifa here and below.
Lastly, my friends Shayne (@shimmy_hendrixx on Instagram) and Alysia put me onto August Alsina. The track they put me on was “I Love This Shit”, which I played at my Radio Bar gig STEREO SESSIONS last Friday, but the whole mixtape is solid. Give it a listen and download it here.
